How to access the dark web with Tor Browser
To access dark web sites with .onion addresses, use a browser connected to Tor. Tor Browser is the practical starting point for visiting these darknet services directly. Pasting the same link into an ordinary browser without a Tor connection will not reach the site.
Get the browser from the Tor Project
Use the official Tor Browser download page and choose the instructions for your device. The Tor Project provides installation help for Windows, macOS, Linux and Android.
Follow its installation instructions. If the official download site is blocked, the download help page lists the project’s alternative methods. Keep that page as the starting point rather than selecting an unrelated download result.
Connect before opening the link
Start Tor Browser and finish connecting to the Tor network before opening a dark web link. Then paste the complete onion URL into the address bar. Modern v3 addresses have a 56-character name followed by .onion; a truncated address is not enough to reach the service.
Copy the link itself, rather than a shortened caption or a cropped screenshot. If you are following a link from an email or another app, make sure it opens in Tor Browser.
Search dark web sites from OnionWay’s Tor address
The About page lists OnionWay’s official onion address and configured mirrors. Open one in Tor Browser, search for your topic and visit a result from there. This lets you search public darknet onion sites while already connected to Tor.
Save a bookmark after you have checked the official address. A bookmark gives you a repeatable route back to the same service and avoids having to identify its address again from an unfamiliar list.
If the page does not open
Note whether the error concerns the address, the connection or the service. Then follow the availability checklist. Repeating the same click gives little information; checking the address and comparing another known service helps narrow down the cause.
Access to the dark web is not a guarantee that a site is trustworthy. The onion connection identifies the address you reached, not the intentions of the person operating it. Before trusting a familiar brand name or logo, check the address against the publisher’s own information.
